Our leaders
CBCF leadership is based on a New Testament model of plural elders. There are two elders: Mike Leader and Steve Gurnett. The elders are responsible for the spiritual oversight of the church.
Mike Leader is single and has been involved in leading the fellowship for over twenty years. He worked in a local Church of England Comprehensive School, holding posts as Head of Music, Head of Sixth Form and finally Deputy Head until he took early retirement in 1998. He still maintains an interest in the school, being a governor, staff chaplain and chair of the school foundation trust.
Mike is seen as a spiritual father to the Fellowship and he takes a leading role in worship and youth as well as being very involved in preaching and teaching. He is also involved in Belmarsh Prison leading Bible Studies with prisoners.

Mike is very involved in local church affairs, being an Ecumenical Borough Dean in Greenwich representing Independent Evangelical Churches, and is chair of the Greenwich Peninsula Chaplaincy, which provides chaplaincy services to the O2 dome. He is involved with the Greenwich Gambling Advisory Panel and the Greenwich Emergency Planning Liaison Group.
Steve Gurnett is married to Julie and they have three children, Claire, Phillip and
Rachel. Steve works full time for an evangelistic organisation, OAC Ministies, which
is committed to taking the gospel to the unchurched in various forms. Steve specialises
in street evangelism and is involved in regular open-

This wider role complements his leadership in CBCF as Steve heads up outreach, helping
us to be more outward looking. He is also involved in schools and work in Belmarsh
Prison, and leads evangelism training courses. He is part of the Sunday School team
and leads one of the house groups.
Steve's
other interests include fell walking, cycling and sea fishing.
